Here are some pictures from my trip.

Day 1 Faterpur Sikri

Fatehpur Sikri is a city board in Agra district in the state of Uttar PradeshIndia. The city was founded in 1569 by the Mughal emperor Akbar and served as the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1571 to 1585.

Day 2 Red Fort
The Red Fort was the residence of the Mughal emperor of India for nearly 200 years, until 1857. It is located in the center of Delhi and houses a number of museums. In addition to accommodating the emperors and their households, it was the ceremonial and political center of Mughal government and the setting for events critically impacting the region.

Constructed in 1648 by the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as the palace of his fortified capital Shahjahanabad, the Red Fort is named for its massive enclosing walls of red sandstone and is adjacent to the older Salimgarh Fort, built by Islam Shah Suri in 1546. The imperial apartments consist of a row of pavilions, connected by a water channel known as the Stream of Paradise (Nahr-i-Behisht). The fort complex is considered to represent the zenith of Mughal creativity under Shah Jahan and although the palace was planned according to Islamic prototypes, each pavilion contains architectural elements typical of Mughal buildings that reflect a fusion of Timurid and Persian traditions. The Red Fort’s innovative architectural style, including its garden design, influenced later buildings and gardens in Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kashmir, Braj, Rohilkhand and elsewhere. With the Salimgarh Fort, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007 as part of the Red Fort Complex.

Our back packs are in front because we were told to  be careful of the pick pockets. We are wearing flip flops, tee and shorts because it was so hot. LOL

We also went to some local marble makers.

Day 3 Taj Mahal

I have been waiting for this day. It has always been my bucket list to go to the Taj Mahal.
And Finally... It is always what I have imagined it would be. Surreal. Amazing and Incredible.

This was the place where King Shah Jahan, King of the world, Ruler of the Mughal Empire was imprisoned. Over looking the Taj Mahal until his final breath....

One of the Princesses quarters..

Then, that moment when I first saw the Taj Mahal. Symbol of India, Architectural Jewel, The Monument of love for Queen Mumtaz Mahal. It took 20,000 artisans, hundreds of elephants, approximately $827 million US dollars, thousands of precious stones and white marbles.

A tomb fit for a queen....

It has been said that when it is full moon, and the light shines through the marbles...the Taj Mahal sparkles like diamonds...

It felt amazing to see and to touch the great Taj Mahal. It took 12 years to build. And here lies the chosen one of the palace, the final resting worthy of her name. A love story carved in one of the worlds most beautiful monument. Their happiness was mortal but their love was for eternity.

Before heading back home we went shopping and to see New Delhi.
